It was probably the Spring Break of 2006 and we were young and wild. Myself along with roughly 12 other girls had rented a beach house in Destin, Florida called, The Coral Villa. I could probably tell you many stories about that week but that's for another post entirely.
Ahhh, the good times, man.
Well, April Fool's Day happen to fall during that week at the beach, which brings me to a little story:
One night while were were out on the town. At AJ's, no less, Lacey realized that it was past 12:00 a.m. and therefore it was officially April Fool's Day. We didn't think anything at all about her revelation. We simply continued partying and dancing the night away.
As the night lingered on and last call approached we started collecting our party to hail a cab home. As we were waiting on the deck leading to the exit of the bar we looked over and noticed Lacey had inserted a few quarters in to a payphone and was having a seemingly serious conversation.
We were all like, "Who in the world is she calling?"
So we approached her and realized what she was doing.
At nearly three o'clock in the morning on a week night our dear friend Lacey had called up her mom on a pay phone and told her she was in jail!!
I'm laughing as I type this because in that moment it was so funny to all of us. We were so tickled. Lacey was April Fooling her mama, who was over four hours away and in bed no doubt.
Eventually, Lacey yelled "APRIL FOOLS" but by that point the funny was lost on her sweet mom.
I'm not sure what Mrs. Linda said to Lacey, but I can say we all had a good laugh in the moment. In the light of day it wasn't nearly as funny. If I'm not mistaken Lacey may have taken a verbal spanking... and rightfully so.
Happy Friday and Happy April Fools Day.
