I can't make this stuff up...

Ryan and I received our first piece of mail addressed to us. This is not really momentous occasion, and please note, I do realize that. However, this was our first piece of mail:

It must be apparent who wears the pants in this relationship!!

Let's just say this has been on the fridge since we received it. I think it's too funny. Ryan, not so much.

Honeymoonin'

Ryan and I left for Atlanta the night of our wedding. We got to ATL around 3 o'clock in the morning, which made for a tough start when the wake up call came in at 6 o'clock in the morning. To say, I was overwhelmed is an understatment.

Although, we had an early call and we were going on fumes... we some how made it to JAMAICA!! Once we arrived in Jamaica and made it through customs we had an hour and a half bus ride to Negril, Jamaica where our resort was located.

All the travel was well worth it because the resort was so nice, the food was amazing, and after all the wedding festivities Ryan and I needed a major relaxing vacation!! It was just perfect.
I mean, how pretty is that? This is the view Ryan and I took in every single day. AMAZING!

We were serenaded with a little Reggae, mon.

Each day Ryan and I would have lunch at the Beach Grill.
It offered everything from Jerk Chicken to Cheeseburgers. You can trust me on this... Ryan got his money's worth! (and if I'm honest I did too)

Ryan and I at the Beach Grill and Bar one day.

As I was laying out one morning Ryan decided to go to the gift shop to do some browsing. I stayed behind and enjoyed my US Weekly. Upon his return he was super excited. Turns out... Ryan is not to be out done by yours truly, as he had purchased these...

I had raved about my new Havaianas and when Ryan saw the opportunity to purchase a pair he went for it. What's that saying... Imitation is the highest form of flattery?

Much to my dismay and Ryan's excitement Jamaica had ESPN...

So for those of you who were concerned... don't fret we were able to watch all the highlights each morning. It was fine.

We spent our days reading, laying out, occasionally hopping on a float, one day we went ocean kayaking, and at night we enjoyed fancy dinners followed by drinks at the piano bar.

We both had a great time. It was so relaxing.

I'm glad we left Jamaica when we did because apparenly there is a state of emergency going on now. According to CNN, "The State Department issued a travel alert for Jamaica on Friday, saying that the "possibility exists for violence and/or civil unrest in the greater Kingston metropolitan area." We were not really near Kingston so we were never in harms way. (I don't think) In Montego Bay we did cross paths with about six camo jeeps packed out with men armed with big guns... but no one really acted like that was odd so I went with it... I just assumed that must be normal.

Overall, the honeymoon was just perfect!! I'm ready for another relaxing beach trip and it's only day two back in the work force. What does that mean?

Bridal Portraits

I had my bridal portraits taken back in April so that I could have one displayed at the wedding reception, however, we couldn't quite make a decision about which one to use. I stressed myself out trying chose just one. We still plan on having a 16x20 framed the only problem is deciding which one we love the most...

Quick ReCap

The wedding has come and gone.

I could not have asked for anything more. The wedding was perfect, the weather was perfect, the food was amazing, and the reception was one raging good time.

Everything came together so well. The bridesmaids looked wonderful, the groomsmen were all so very handsome, and our parents all cleaned up quite well.

I don't think I can adequately describe just how great it all was. On the honeymoon I kept replaying the night. Who was there? How did this go? Do you think anyone noticed this?

Some people don't have a concept for their dream wedding or even want to get married for that matter (and to each their own- for sure), but I did have a concept. I wanted  my wedding to be sophisticated yet rustic- if that make sense... but most importantly from day one of planning this wedding, my top priority was for everyone to have a great time.

I know I'm super biased, but in my opinion, it was a major success.

Once I have the photos from the photographer I will do a detailed post (or several) of the day. I absolutely can't wait to see the pictures!

WEDDING WEEK

So it's Wednesday, May 12, 2010, which means I'm getting married in three days. It is so crazy how time has flown by so quickly. I can't believe it is finally here and at the same time I couldn't imagine planning any longer.

I feel like Brad Paisley's wife in Father of the Bride, except I don't have in depth chats about life with my dad while playing basketball in the drive way.

People keep asking me if I'm nervous yet or if I am feeling stressed out... and quite frankly, so far I feel pretty good about everything. I know that mom and I have planned and done things in advance so that we aren't too stressed this week.

Although, we didn't have a "Franz" to help us with the planning. I was Franz.

I'm sure it will be a different story come Friday night when I actually see everyone in the church rehearsing the ceremony. I think that's when it will all seem very real.

I won't ever be nervous or anxious about marrying Ryan, but I can see myself getting a little overwhelmed about all the people that will be in attendance. ALL EYES ON US, which is intimidating for sure.

I am beyond thrilled that we will have our closest friends and family in town for a weekend to celebrate our union.

Let's do this thing!!

The Month of May

... as described in poetry.

I received this poem from Lacey this morning:

May is here
we are in the clear
hot and sunny
holler back Easter bunny

You are going to get hitched
the raging* is to be ditched
alana may lose a leg
at your wedding I will hit the keg

fast forward eleven days
Jamaica, mon', is where you stays
You'll get tan and hang with your boo
then back home to your lacey loo!

Then---you know what comes next
as sure as the sun rises
and sets in the west
it will be our favorite time of year
because not only are you getting married
but MD 2010 is near!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I could do was respond back in the form of beautiful poetry as well:

May is a month of lots of fun times,
I love that you came up with such a dope rhyme.

I'm for sure getting hitched, but
all this planning has been a bitch...

I can't wait until I say I DO
so we can hit the reception and kick back a few.

Oh, the beach in Negril is calling my name.
It's just what I need, as my life has been insane.

We will bring in MD 2010 in style
And then it's your big day in a short little while.

I then signed off with a haiku...

Here's to May!
The most splendid month.
Let it be.
