Time on My Hands

How did I spend my weekend you ask? Well, let's just say it wasn't fun.

I had to have my wisdom teeth removed---- UGH!! I went for a regular cleaning during the first week in January. That is when the ole doc told me it was way past due to have my wisdom teeth removed.

 

I knew I would need to act fast because I have lots going on in the next few months as far as wedding stuff for my sister-in-law and a couple of sweet friends, which means not so much time for sitting around, all swollen face, doped up on pain meds eating pudding.

So I went for it and had them cut out this past Friday. My weekend consisted of pudding, potato soup, pudding, mashed potatoes, and jello. Between my mom and Ryan I was well taken care of! They love me even if I am a pity party waiting to happen. Although I think I was a great patient.

All this down time between having my wisdom teeth removed and the frigid temps (it snowed one day last week) I've had some serious time to catch up on a few TV series.

Ryan got me Apple TV for my birthday-- Can we talk about how great it is? Awesome. It has really aided me in getting caught up!

First up, was The Walking Dead. Ever since we took our fall trip to Senoia, GA where they film portions of The Walking Dead I've wanted to see what the show was all about. Now, I will say it's quite gruesome and I have to shut my eyes a good bit (read: when it shows blood and guts). It has me locked in for the long haul at this point. I've watched all of season one, two and what has been released of season three.

Rick is a good man. I would follow him during a Zombie Apocalypse any day. I will say that Zombies are kind of ridiculous. They are the slowest, dumbest villains of all time. This fact makes the whole premise less scary. Also, if you watch this show... if they return from the mid-season break and kill off Daryl Dixon I will be done. He is my favorite character.

The next show I wanted to check off the list was HBO's GIRLS. Oh my goodness it is hilarious! It is right on as far as how girls really talk/act. It has the shock factor which, let's be honest, who doesn't love?

I've finished season one. Season two just started back this month. I can't get enough. Also, I love that Marni is played by Brian Williams daughter, Allison Williams.

I watch episodes when she does crazy stuff and I think to myself, "I bet conservative evening news anchor, Brian Williams would not approve of this!" (like I know what Brian Williams thinks or if he's even conservative)

Finally, to wrap up my crazy TV show indulgence-- I've also watched one and half seasons of Pretty Little Liars. It is a teeny bopper show, but I love it! I love the girls' fashion and the fact that the story line can get pretty far fetched. Like seriously, just call the police already!

I want to know so desperately who "A" is. I'm addicted! WHO IS A?????

So that's what I've been up to lately! Don't be too jealous. Although, I'm convinced my lack of being able to eat has aided me in knocking off the few holiday pounds I may have gained over Christmas. Bright side, people. Bright side!

O.T.W. Catch up Post (two weekends/weeks coming at you)

Ah man, it's been nonstop for Ryan and I the last few weeks. From football games and tailgate parties to wedding showers and fashions shows we've been covering a lot of ground around these parts.

And to even think that the holidays are practically here is just craziness!

Thanks to my brother who provided tickets for everyone we enjoyed Easton Corbin, Deirks Bentley and Craig Morgan.

Ali, Deidra and I joined my brother and a few of his friends for a fun night of good ole country music. That's what I love about Sundays...

CELEBRATED WITH ALANA & CLINT

My friend, Alana's wedding is quickly approaching. She and her fiance live in Ohio. They came home one weekend so that we could enjoy a bridal tea in Alana's honor as well as enjoy a tailgate themed couples shower for the two of them.

We may or may not have had a dance off with the moms in attendance. #momswon

CO-HOSTED WITH LACEY FOR "GIRLS NIGHT OUT"

Lacey and I co-hosted for the second time on At Home with Kenny Dean.

 

Lacey and I both had crazy jackets to wear during one segment of the show. I went the the leopard (above, picture of me in said jacket while getting ready) that I actually thrifted.

Topics for this show ranged from "Twists on the Classic Turtle Neck" to "How to Rock Printed Hosiery"

It is so much fun. I like to think we're a big hit in our small town.

MODELED IN A FASHION SHOW

Two of our local boutique type stores hosted a joint fashion show as a fundraiser for Alexander City's Education Foundation. Thanks to my TV co-host, Lacey, I found myself modeling for the store Little Black Dress.

Oh Look! I added a personal touch from my very own closet-- polka-dotted hoses!

After a few glasses of wine I found that if I were only a foot taller (I'm only about 5'3") I probably would have loved being an actual model. Except I like to eat and real models probably don't chit chat with onlookers in attendance (you know my mom and bff were in the audience).

TAILGATED FOR AUBURN/GEORGIA GAME

Ryan and I headed to The Plains for the Auburn v. Georgia game. We had such a fun weekend with friends that we hadn't seen in a few months.

Please note, the blazer in the middle pic above-- It's from 2005. I shopped my closet and found a fun little gem.

I love Auburn with my whole heart, but this season has been a tough one--- I will be glad to see it go.

The best part about the actual game (outside of who I attended it with- ALI) was the hot dog.

Televison Debut

Yes, you read that right. Lacey and I made our Television Debut last night on our small town's local station, WAXC-TV's show, At Home with Kenny Dean.

The irony of our debut lies in that we made our premiere last night and today happens to be National Television Talk Show Host Day. I think it's a sign. We may have found our calling!

Lacey and I "co-hosted" the local show for the entire hour. Kenny Dean (the host of the show) gave us free range regarding what we wanted to talk about.

Lacey and I bounced ideas off of each other in preparation. We had lots of fun topics we wanted to cover from fashion trends to what was trending on Twitter. By the time we had the outline completed for the hour long show we had roughly ten topics we could discuss and feel solid about giving our "expert" opinions.

If you know Lacey or me then you know we love all things celebrity, fashion related, or Rolling Stone oriented--- basically all things pop culture. So this was heaven for us.

After we had our rough outline ready it was time for hair and make up.

Ryan called me yesterday afternoon to inquire if I was ready for the premiere. After talking for a few minutes he asked where I was headed to which I replied, "Hair and Makeup."

Maybe "hair and make-up" was just at my house in the guest bedroom, but we did do our hair and make up prior to going live.

Lacey and I like to think of our duo as being the younger, Southern version of Kathy Lee and Hoda. (here's hoping we actually make to their level one day).

I think Kathy Lee and Hoda would approve of a small glass of wine pre live taping. I mean, they have wine at 10:00 am during their show.



About to head to the TV Station-- super pumped!

Our first topic was about the trend burgundy (or oxblood) colored jeans. We created two boards to show the audience how to style them more dressed up or how to make them more appropriate for casual Fall attire.

As you can see in this picture (below) were really working heavy lipstick.

The heavy lipstick was so that we could show off the next trend we discussed which is the darker wine colored lipsticks that are hot this season.

After the "fashion talk" we discussed Twitter and Instagram and how important both have become in media.

Yesterday was National Fear Day and that happen to be what was trending on Twitter. In order to scare our audience Lacey and I shared a high school photo from our Back in Black Pep Rally circa 2002.

We had a good laugh at our own expense. I knew dark lipstick was "in" even back then!

Since the show is live viewers are invited to call in with questions. We answered four viewer questions ranging from whether or not scarves would be in this season to whether or not printed leggings were okay to wear.

By the end of the show we were feeling really good about our TV appearance and even did commercial for a local business (that carries Vera Bradley) completely off-the-cuff. I'm sure sales went through the roof today!

The show was a success in my opinion. Lacey and I have gotten great feed back from viewers. We are hoping to be a regular appearance on the show (at least until we're offered our own show- ha).

Things I'm Loving This Week

In honor of it being Friday I decided I would post about a few things I'm loving this week.

1. OPI's Chopsitcking to my Style.

I'm not quite ready to go super dark with my nail color so this has been the perfect transition into FALL. Plus it doesn't hurt that it's basically orange and works well with my gameday attire each weekend. WDE.

2. FALL TV PREMIERS.

Holla for a dollar if you've been tuning into the new seasons and fall premiers!! I've really been making the DVR work for me this week, as I am trying to decided which shows will make the cut.

New Girl made me laugh out loud in a few parts... and at times the main character kind of got on my nerves. Verdict is still out on this one.

Vampire Dairies is on lock. I love it right along with all the other teeny boppers out there.

REVEN8E was really good. The first episode had lots of twist and turns and as of right now I'm all in.

I have really high hopes for Pam Am as well as Hart of Dixie which premier on Sunday and Monday.

Rachel Bilson is looking so pretty.

3. These free pumpkin stencils from Better Homes & Garden.

They have lots of different designs, but the different dog breed stencils have me ready to bust out my carving knife.

4. And lastly, as usual I'm totally loving my main girl dog, Maggs.

Tomorrow I'm hitting up an Estate Sale (fingers crossed we get some steals), a Thirty-One Party, and cheering on the Tigers. Hope you have a great weekend too!

TV Time

In looking back over this here blog I realized that I have done multiple post about different TV Show that I watch.

It made me feel as though I should state for the record that I actually do have a life, but on week nights nine times out of ten times you can find me fresh off of a work out chilling in front of the TV.

It's what I do... Work, hit the gym, eat, watch TV, hang with Ryan, and wait for the weekend.

I wanted to tell you about two shows that I am loving right now.

The first is a show that comes on Thursday nights on USA called, Suits. 

Ryan and I are really into it. Every episode I kept saying "where I have seen the guy that plays Harvey" and Ryan couldn't help me place him.

Then one day E! played the movie, Because I Said So and there he was... I had placed him.

Now, this show is about lawyers but it's a new take on it. Tune in!! It's gotten great reviews and has been picked up for another season.

In a completely different direction... I am also loving the Lifetime show, Picker Sisters.

Two girls travel the back roads in search of "junk" that they turn into "treasures."

I love the friendship the girls have, but most importantly I love to see what they turn there finds into.

It comes on Tuesday night!

I hope you add these two shows to your TV line up.

I'm at the Corner Just in Time to See the Bus Fly By!

As a young buck I spent my afternoon watching Saved By The Bell! Raise the roof if you were pretty sure Zach Morris was going to be your husband one day!!  {I'm raising said roof in my office right now... holla!}

I wanted to be Kelly Kapowski, if for nothing else her cool demeanor and the fact that Zach was always smitten with her.

I learned valuable life lessons from SBTB... such as: If you sprain your ankle the week of the dance contest at The Max, it will all work out... just make up a crazy dance routine in which you hop around. Life gives you lemons... make some Lemonade.

I even stayed with the Save By The Bell crew on into the college years. It was a real love.

Alas, at some point it was all over and I didn't think there would be a time in my life in which Zach Morris or Kelly Kapowski would ever be a staple in my television watching.

I was wrong!

I've mentioned my love of White Collar here on the ole bloggity, but it's true I watch it every week. Have since episode one.

How sexy is the main character, Neil Caffrey?

And the best part is that Kelly Kapowski is Agent Peter Burke's wife. At first I was all "Why is Kelly Kapowski trying to be someone she's not" or "Why is Kelly so puffy looking." It just wasn't sitting well with me. However, I realized that she was puffy looking because she was preggo in real life and they were trying to hide it on screen and to be honest she's really grown on me! I love her on the show!

Well, this summer another crazy thing happened... Zach Morris made it into my television watching circuit! He's the co-star of the new show, Franklin and Bash. I was highly skeptical at first.

I mean, I never did buy into him being a cop on Law and Order or whatever show he was on. Zach Morris is not that serious. So, of course I didn't know if he would play a believable lawyer...

But this show is really good... and this role really suits Zach Morris. I would advise you to tune in!

I suppose my life is now complete. Kelly and Zach got me through my adolescence and now they with me yet again in my mid twenties.

Funny how things come full circle, huh?

What Does It All Mean?

Is it odd that my favorite show on Thursday night (other than this one) is Vampire Dairies?

I mean, does that fact make me as cool as a 15 year old girl?

I get so caught up in the drama . . . what with Bonnie having the power of 100 deceased witches, Claus coming back for Elena, Stefan and Damon doing everything they can to protect Elena.. It's all so realistic and exciting.

I guess at the end of the day, if  tuning in with millions other 15 year old girls to the CW on Thursday at 8/7 Central makes me a little less cool then so be it. (or maybe it makes me cooler) Because my heart beats a little faster during that one hour while The Salvatore Brothers try to live a normal life in good ole Mystic Falls.

Here's to hoping Bonnie doesn't die using all that power.

Swamp People

I recently spent an entire Sunday morning watching Season One of the HISTORY Channel's show, Swamp People. The show follows several different hunters during the month long alligator season down in the Louisiana bayou.

I'm not sure what I learned other than you have got to shoot an alligator in the quarter-sized soft spot behind the eyes in order to kill them dead, but I love it.

Troy is my favorite Swamp person. He gets really excited and yells in his thick Cajun accent when he hooks an alligator. Whooo hoooo!

The Bachelorette Finale

This past Monday marked the end of this season's Bachelorette, with Ali. I have mentioned before that I get totally sucked in by this franchise of love. The Bachelor-- I'm there. The Bachelorette-- couldn't love it more. And to be quite honest, I will probably tune in to the new show The Bachelor Pad just to see people from past seasons. I'm looking at you Kiptyn Locke-- who by the way just confirmed our friendship on facebook, as it has taken him months to do so. (is that taking it too far? please don't judge).

Well, Ali's season couldn't have ended any better. Her final two guys would have been the same two guys I would have had if I had been the bachelorette. (because that matters)

Roberto- Tall, Dark and Handsome and Chris L.-- Fun Loving, cute and family oriented

Roberto walked away with the final rose and apparently Ali's heart.

But Chris L. could not have handled the situation more beautifully. There are thousands of single women who watched the finale and how well Chris L. handled himself that would gladly marry him, I'm sure of it.

(for those of you who have watched and wondered what that tat on his side is... well, wonder no longer. It's his mom's signature. My heart be still.)

Overall, it was a great season that kept me tuning in every Monday night and discussing, in detail, over the office water cooler every Tuesday. It's one of my guilty pleasures.

Those of you who tuned in will understand this.... Yesterday, my mom and I were driving to Auburn when I saw a rainbow in the distance. ("and it wasn't even raining")

...and I couldn't help but think Chris L's mom was watching over us. I'm not sure I will ever see another rainbow and not think of Chris L. or potentially tear up. I'm just sayin'

Maybe, just maybe, Chris L. will be our next bachelor.
